_/ 題 目 : 風波とLangmuir循環による海洋混合層の変動
_/
_/ 内 容 :
_/ The oceanic mixed layer refers to the upper layer of the ocean that is
_/ in direct contact with the atmosphere and is usually observed to be mixed
_/ thoroughly by turbulent mixing. Models of the oceanic mixed layer usually
_/ ignore the presence of wind waves at the air-sea interface, and assumed
_/ they obey the law of the wall, in which the turbulence is equilibrated
_/ between shear production and dissipation. However, wind waves are at least
_/ important for two reasons. First, wave breaking transfers wave energy into
_/ turbulence and is thus an energy source for boundary layer turbulence.
_/ Second, direct interactions between Stokes drift that is resulted from
_/ wind waves and wind-driven current can produce Langmuir circulation,
_/ which has the capability to transport suspended matter vertically downward
_/ deep into the oceanic mixed layer and modifying the circulation and
_/ turbulence characteristics in the upper ocean layer.
_/ I will first introduce the wind wave models briefly, and suggest that
_/ wind wave forecast has been well developed compared to the other ocean
_/ environmental factor predictions. Then, based on a second order turbulent
_/ closure scheme, Mellor-Yamada model, the influence of wind waves on
_/ oceanic mixed layer is investigated from three aspects including air-sea
_/ flux algorithms, turbulence induced by wave breaking, and Langmuir
_/ circulation, all of them depend on the development degree
_/ of wind waves. The detail will be reported at the presentation.
